Melvin Tan is a singer/songwriter based in Sydney Australia. He has been writing and singing since the age of fourteen. His family moved to Australia from Singapore when Melvin was seven years old.  Through the influence of his friends at school and church, Melvin developed an interest in Christian music; listening each day to artists like Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, David Meece and Sandi Patty.

At age sixteen, Melvin bought his first guitar and began learning to play and write his own songs. By the end of high school, Melvin had written about sixty songs and was keen to record his first album. After studying to be a primary school teacher, Melvin began his vocation teaching in country New South Wales. His first year of employment as a teacher also afforded him the means by which to finally record his debut album as a singer/songwriter. Melvin then took this album to many country towns and churches and Christian/community radio stations; singing in different churches each Sunday!

Now, some sixteen years and seven albums later, Melvin continues to sing and teach. He currently serves in his home church as part of the worship team and writes, records and performs his own compositions. Melvin studies classical voice as a countertenor and is a member of Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, performing regularly in the Opera House.
His latest album, "Here I Go Again" was released in May 2010 and contains Melvin's own songs of love, faith, life as well as a few classical pieces thrown into the mix- a reflection the journey that Melvin himself is on.
